Join us for an evening with Chiefs tight end Leonard Pope on Tuesday, November 8 at the Cleaver Family YMCA.

Pope will be joining us to discuss swim safety, as earlier this summer, he saved a 6 year old boy from drowning in a pool in Georgia.

Pope was walking out of a house when he noticed the boy sliding down into the deep end of the pool. Without taking anything out of his pockets, he dove in and pulled him to the surface.

Both Leonard and the Y believe in the importance of swimming skills, and that's why we're proud to be able to provide swim lessons to people of all ages.

Did you know that:

More than a quarter of deaths for children 1-4 years old are because of drownings.

In 2006, there were more than 3300 unintentional drownings in the United States.

On Tuesday, we'll discuss the importance of water safety from 6:30-7:30 p.m. and then have a pool party from 7:30-8:30 p.m. If you're interested in attending, please RSVP at the Cleaver Family YMCA Welcome Center by November 7.

We hope to see you there!
