Military Membership

Families of deployed members of the military have the opportunity to grow stronger at the Y through free memberships. YMCA of Greater Kansas City is participating in the Military Outreach Initiative, launched by YMCA of the USA, the Armed Services YMCA and the Department of Defense. The program gives spouses and families of deployed military personnel who live far from a military installation free memberships and the opportunity to improve health and foster connections through classes, fun and shared interests.

Eligible military families and personnel include:
• Family members of deployed National Guard and Reservists.
• Active Duty Independent Duty personnel and their families as approved by their Military Service Headquarters.
• Relocated spouses and family members of deployed Active Duty personnel.

The Department of Defense will underwrite memberships at participating Ys for an initial six-month period for each eligible family and service member. Membership renewals in subsequent six-month intervals (up to 12 or 18 months depending on eligibility) will be funded based on a military family’s or service member’s ability to meet the participation requirement of eight visits to a Y each month.

Get more information from YMCA of the USA and confirm eligibility and receive an eligibility form at www.militaryonesource.com.

In addition to the eligibility form, a local Y membership form also is required. Although you may use your Y military membership to visit any of the 19 YMCA of Greater Kansas City locations, please apply in person at one of the following locations:
