The new North Kansas City YMCA is now open! Through a partnership with the City of North Kansas City, the Y is now operating the former North Kansas City Community Center. The partnership allows us to work together to serve more people and provide more programs to improve quality of life for people of all ages in our community.

Amenities at the new North Kansas City YMCA include:

  • Dedicated group exercise studios.
  • Three gyms to offer opportunities such as open gym, family gym, adult sports and more.
  • Family changing rooms.
  • Expanded Kids Zone--more space for your children to have fun, learn and play.
  • Swimming pool and indoor water park with a kid-friendly pool and features including a slide and lazy river.
  • Expanded wellness floor with new, state-of-the-art equipment.
  • 25-foot rock climbing wall.
  • Indoor walking track.

The new spaces will offer the opportunity for more group exercise and water fitness classes and more programs for families and active older adults. In addition, North Kansas City Hospital is committed to being the medical wellness partner on site to offer programs ranging from health screenings and the prevention or management of health risks such as obesity, diabetes, cancer and cardiovascular disease.

THE NORTH KANSAS CITY YMCA TEAM

Katie Vivas - Associate Executive Director

Michael Ginestra - Assistant Sports Director
Sports have always been a part of Michael's life, from playing youth sports to playing sports at Park Hill South High School and Carnegie Mellon University. When he began working for the Y in 2011, he knew he I had found the right place to continue to make athletics part of his life. "I am able to give back all that I've learned with a focus on the YMCA's four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility," Michael said. "I really enjoy seeing a child begin to understand a sport the right way. With a focus on sportsmanship and respect, our kids can learn life lessons applicable to everyday life." Before beginning his current role, he was a Sports Official, Youth Summer Camp Coordinator and a Sports Program Assistant. He grew up in Parkville, MO, and holds a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Brittanie Propes - Youth and Family Coordinator
Brittanie has been with the Y since January 2011 and in her current role as Youth and Family Coordinator at the North Kansas City YMCA since December 2014. "I love the sense of community at the Y--it makes me excited to come to work each day," she said. She worked at the Y part-time throughout college and began working full-time shortly after she graduated from Park University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication--Broadcasting. In her time at the Y, she has also served as a Membership Representative, Healthy Living Coach, Group Exercise Instructor, and Membership Engagement Coordinator. Her hobbies include yoga, hiking and kayaking. She also loves trying new food, so she makes an effort to visit a new restaurant, taco truck or hidden dive at least once a month. Brittanie grew up in Lawson, MO.
