Jessica Velazquez - Healthy Living Director
At the Y, Jessica enjoys the opportunity to cultivate a community of wellness with education, commitment and communication. After earning a degree in Communication and Business from Emporia State University, Jessica spent time working in Public Relations at a magazine and event planning company in Kansas City. At the same time, she went back to school to pursue her passion in wellness, earning a degree in Exercise Science from Kansas City, Kansas, Community College. She worked as a personal trainer in Houston, TX, for a few years before starting to work at the YMCA of Greater Kansas City. Jessica is a Certified Personal Trainer, American College of Sports Medicine Cancer Exercise Specialist, Cancer Institute Lifestyle Coach, YMCA's Diabetes Prevention Program Group Exercise Instructor, YMCA Instructor and LIVESTRONG at the YMCA Certified. Jessica, who grew up in Albuquique, NM, loves Kansas City, but enjoys traveling to warm places with mountains and oceans.
