Our Traditional Day Camp provides kids 5 - 12 years old with supervised themed activities that teach core values, conflict resolution and leadership skills through a variety of outdoor and indoor activities, and weekly field trips and swim time. Our half-day Specialty Camp, new for 2012, offers children the opportunity to be physically and mentally challenged in specific activities. From sports to music, each week of Specialty Camp will focus on a different theme. These camps allow participants to engage in character building and positive relationships while learning new skills. Campers can also participate in our Traditional Day Camps in the afternoons following Specialty Camp for an added fee. Click here for descriptions of all the Y's Specialty Camp themes.
For kids 3-5 years old and potty trained, our Explorers Preschool Camp is in the Shawnee Mission School District at Santa Fe Trail Elementary. At our preschool camps, campers participate in themed weeks with special guests and family events, hands-on learning, and some splash time, all in a fun and safe environment planned throughout the summer.
The Y offers a Teen Camp experience in a safe atmosphere with positive, fun and energetic role models. Teen Camp is filled with fun and exciting day trips so your teen won't feel like they are in a day camp, but hanging out with friends in a supportive and challenging environment. Teens will be given the opportunity to take risks, set goals and push themselves to new heights. Teen camp activities include swimming, hiking, community service projects, gaming, fishing, mentor projects and more.
Our Summer of Service empowers youth to become engaged in their community and develop social responsibility. Teams of middle school youth work together throughout the summer to explore and address community needs such as poverty and hunger, children's health and youth development and environmental conservation. They learn about problems facing their community, discover and participate directly in solutions and connect these experiences to the larger world. Summer of Service develops leaders, builds teamwork skills and gives youth a meaningul way to connect to each other and their community.
Age Groups:

Adventures: For kids who have completed Kindergarten through 2nd grade, our Adventures camps will be for younger campers whose parents want specialized, age appropriate activities for their children. Adventures camps will include one field trip and one swimming trip a week.
Warriors: For kids in 3rd-5th grade, Warriors camp will participate in activites that at times will be different from the Adventure camps. One field trip and one swimming trip a week are included.
Teen Camp: For those in 6th-9th grade, the Y offers a teen camp experience in a safe atmosphere with positive, fun and energetic role models.
