How are coaches selected?

All YMCA youth sports coaches are volunteers. The Y will offer manuals, clinics and mentors to get coaches started. Please mark on the registration form if you are interested in coaching.

When will participants be contacted regarding teams, practices and game schedules?

All participants should be contacted by their coach within 72 hours after the coaches meeting. Coaches will pass along information regarding picture days, practice and game schedules. Participants are encouraged to call the Weather Line (varies by center) for information in case of game cancellations. Weather and cancellation information also is posted on our website.

How are practices set up?

The Youth Development Director offers practice times and locations to coaches, who select a practice slot in cooperation with player and parent schedules. All youth sports teams are assigned one practice per week for one hour. All participants should contact their coach about practice cancellations.

How are leagues formed?

All leagues are kept within local areas when possible. If there are not enough teams enrolled to form a league, local Ys will combine teams in order to run a league. All Y teams use the same rules and follow the same regulations for practices and games.

What is the YMCAs Financial Assistance Program?

Each year the Y raises money to help those in our community who are unable to pay the stated fees for Y programs and membership. Financial assistance is available for both members and non-members. Applicants must apply in person and fill out paperwork prior to the deadline for each specific sport. Financial assistance awards are based on a number of factors including income and number of dependents. Extenuating circumstances are also taken into consideration.

What is the refund policy?

Refunds are given in the case of emergency or unforeseen circumstances. There is a $15 administration fee for all refunds. Refunds approved during the season will be given on a prorated basis based on the number of games played.

The Y is proud to provide an all-inclusive experience for our sports participants. Provided for all sports are:

 -Y Sports uniforms to wear during games

 -Trained and certified coaches and officials

 -An emphasis on the Y’s four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility

 -Equipment for practices and games

 -End-of-the-season awards
