On Sunday, April 28, 2024 the Cleaver Family YMCA is hosting Red Cross Babysitter's Training from 10:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. This course provides youth who plan to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly care for children and infants. Participants will learn leadership skills, how to develop a babysitting business, how to keep themselves and others safe and helping children behave. The recommended age range for this course is 11-15 years old. The course also includes Red Cross First Aid certification.

The American Red Cross is the country's leader in babysitting classes and child care training. According to the Red Cross, 8 in 10 surveyed parents said they would pay more for a trained babysitter who holds Red Cross babysitting and first aid certifications. Although every situation is unique, there are universal babysitting skills that every babysitter should master. This course was designed with this principle in mind and will help participants deliver the care that families need. Successful completion of this course gives you a two-year certification and access to refresher materials, so you can keep your skills sharp between certifications.

Once your Red Cross babysitting and child care training is complete, you'll still retain access to all of your course materials, including your Babysitter's Training Handbook and Babysitter's Training Emergency Reference Guide on the Red Cross Learning Center. Please note that Red Cross child care classes are not intended for those seeking certification for state-licensed child care providers and does not meet all state requirements for such certification. Registration for this course is $99, and participants can register online today!
