YMCA of Greater Kansas City continues its commitment to youth development, healthy living and social responsibility through a new income-based pricing program called Open Doors. The program customizes membership pricing for all income levels to provide all throughout the Kansas City community opportunities to learn, grow and thrive.
To participate, individuals must provide a 1040 tax form or Schedule C for income verification. If a 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ or Schedule C tax form is not available, the Y will accept a W-2, two recent pay stubs, disability letter, unemployment letter or retirement letter. Members will verify their income annually to continue to receive the rate based on the income they provided initially. Full membership rates are reflected as the rates for the top income level.
“It is imperative that we’re serving our community in a way that meets all of our neighbors’ needs,” YMCA of Greater Kansas City CEO David Byrd said. “With the growing crisis of obesity, the Y is working to find solutions that support positive health in Kansas City. We hope this pricing structure will open our doors to all local families looking for a place to improve health and well-being.”
