Online Registration for our 2012 Summer Day Camps opens Saturday, March 3 online and at our Super Summer Signup. At Y Summer Day Camps, there is no registration fee.

 

At Y Day Camp, kids can be basketball players scoring the winning shot and a musician at a sold out rock show.

 

At Y Day Camp kids can be an Olympic swimmer racing for a gold medal and a scientist making a new discovery.

 

At Y Day Camp, kids can be an artist painting a masterpiece and plant vegetables that help their bodies grow.

 

At Y Day Camp, the possibilities are endless. Kids have the opportunity to explore nature, find new talents, try new activities, gain independence, and make lasting friendships and memories. And, of course, it’s fun too.

 

Sample Full Day Camp Schedule

  • 7-9 a.m.: Before Care and Morning Snack
  • 9-9:30 a.m.: Opening Ceremony and Announcements
  • 9:30-10 a.m.: Group Time
  • 10 a.m.-Noon: Morning Activities Rotation
  • Noon-1 p.m.: Lunch and Siesta (Eat/Journal/Read/Rest)
  • 1-3 p.m.: Afternoon Activities Rotation
  • 3-3:30 p.m.: Group Time/Reflection/Afternoon Snack
  • 3:30-4 p.m.: Closing Ceremony
  • 4-6 p.m.: After Care

 

Our Traditional Day Camps provide kids 5-12 years old with supervised themed activities that teach core values, conflict resolution and leadership skills through a variety of outdoor and indoor activities, and weekly field trips and swim time. Our half-day Specialty Camps, new for 2012, offer children the opportunity to be physically and mentally challenged in specific activities. From sports to music, each week of Specialty Camp will focus on a different theme. These camps allow participants to engage in character building and positive relationships while learning new skills. (Click here for a comprehensive list of Specialty Camp Themes.) Campers can also participate in our Traditional Day Camps in the afternoons following Specialty Camp for an added fee.

 

In 2012, the Y will be providing a new destination day camp experience for kids ages 6-12 years old at Camp Naish in Bonner Springs, KS. Our Camp Naish Destination Camp will include opportunities to explore the great outdoors while meeting new friends and campers will take part in activities like wall climbing, archery, BB guns, camp crafts, nature hikes, camp songs and more fun games.

 

In our Explorers Preschool Camp, 3-5 year olds who are potty-trained can participate in themed weeks with special guests and family events, hands-on learning and some splash time. Our Explorers Preschool Camp is at Santa Fe Trail Elementary in the Shawnee Mission School District.

 

The Y offers a Teen Camp experience in a safe atmosphere with positive, fun and energetic role models. Teen camp is filled with fin and exciting day trips so your teen won't feel like he or she is in a day camp. Teen Camp is offered at:

 

Our Summer of Service program empowers youth to become engaged in their community and develop social responsibility. Teams of middle school youth work together throughout the summer to explore and address community needs. Our Summer of Service is held at Broadway United Methodist.
